WHO WE ARE

Faith and Global Engagement (FGE) is a multidisciplinary platform that explores the significance of Christian tradition in dialogue with contemporary society.  FGE was officially launched at the University of Hong Kong in 2012 and joined HKU’s Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IHSS) in 2020.

We warmly invite you to join us as together we seek to realize our mission of building flourishing communities through research, teaching and learning, and public engagement.  Our immediate aspirations are:

  • Research – becoming a thought leader in our new research agenda on how the Christian faith helps cultivate personal, communal, and planetary flourishing especially in the context of China.
  • Teaching and Learning – developing a curriculum framework for Lead for Life that allows the programme to flourish at HKU and to be replicated in other universities in Hong Kong and around the world.
  • Public Engagement – continuing to attract world-class speakers to HKU to share their faith-based views on critical contemporary issues.

There are three ways you can help support our work:

First, you can help by attending our various public lectures, and spreading the word of our work throughout the Hong Kong community.  The easiest way to do that is to subscribe to our newsletter, and then invite your friends to come with you for the various events.  You can subscribe here and ask your friends to subscribe as well.

Second, you can make a financial donation. As part of the Hong Kong Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Hong Kong, Faith and Global Engagement is a privately funded academic programme that relies on the financial support of individuals, granting agencies, and foundations to operate. All of what you see on this website is possible through your donations. All donations to HKU are tax deductible. You will receive a receipt from HKU.
