There aren’t many topics on which superheroes, religious leaders, and cutting-edge psychological science converge, but “How can I find purpose and meaning in my career?” is one. In this talk, Dr. Bryan Dik, vocational psychologist, professor, entrepreneur, and co-author of Make Your Job a Calling, will use examples and evidence to explore what a calling means, how to discern your calling, and how to make not merely money in your career, but meaning. He will offer practical steps you can take to infuse your work with joy and purpose, regardless of your path.
Bryan J. Dik is Associate Professor of Psychology at Colorado State University and Co-founder of jobZology, a software and consulting company that uses psychological assessment to connect job seekers and employers. His research explores perceptions of work as a calling; meaning, purpose, religion and spirituality in career decision-making and planning; measurement of vocational interests; and career development interventions. Prof. Dik is an American Psychological Association Fellow. He has published or presented more than 140 papers and has served on editorial boards for seven career development research journals. He is co-author of Make Your Job a Calling: How the Psychology of Vocation Can Change Your Life at Work.
